Reconciliation

Welcome to "Wings of Reconciliation: Soaring Together, Healing Forever"

This is where knowledge becomes action. Our four core themes align with the priorities of Indigenous communities. By exploring these themes, you'll become a better-equipped ally:

  1. Uncover the Past: Understand the history of Residential Schools, forced assimilation policies, and intergenerational trauma.
  2. Honour the Missing: Raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit individuals.
  3. Celebrate Creativity: Support Indigenous artists and embrace Indigenous representation in creative spaces.
  4. Be an Ally: Amplify Indigenous voices, support equity, and empower the next generation.

Learning takes many forms - read, watch, listen, or do. Together, we'll make a meaningful impact, fostering reconciliation and understanding. This is just the beginning.

Every individual has the power to contribute to a more inclusive and understanding world. This platform is a bridge, connecting you with key themes that hold the fabric of Indigenous Reconciliation. Together, we understand and uplift.

Why it Matters:

Reconciliation isn't just a goal; it's a collective responsibility. By understanding the past, celebrating Indigenous voices, and standing together as allies, we build a brighter future for all. We can't change history, but we can shape tomorrow.

Collective Impact for Change

In history, it's the everyday actions of individuals that drive progress in our communities. While we can't single-handedly solve all challenges, we can play our part in understanding and supporting Indigenous Peoples.

Terminology Made Simple:

Terminology can be confusing. Here's a quick guide to help:

  1. Aboriginal vs. Indigenous: These terms are used interchangeably, but "Indigenous" has become more widely accepted and respectful. It's an inclusive term that recognizes the diversity and distinct cultures within Indigenous communities.
  2. Indigenous Terminology Umbrella: The Indigenous peoples of Canada encompass diverse groups, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. Each has its unique heritage, languages, and traditions. Together, they form a vibrant tapestry of Indigenous cultures.

Reconciliation starts with us, here, and now. Let's create a meaningful impact, one personal act at a time.
